According to reports from the Daily Mail, Aston Villa are close to finally securing the services of Glenn Whelan from Stoke City.
Aston Villa completed their third signing of the summer by bringing in Ahmed Elmohamady from Hull City for a fee of around £1million on Wednesday and manager Steve Bruce looks set to follow up the transfer with the recruitment of Glenn Whelan.
Villa have been linked with a move for Whelan for quite a while now but had been unable to get the deal through due to Stoke City’s stubborn stance on the player’s asking price.
After long drawn negotiations though, it can be revealed that Villa have finally managed to agree on a fee of around £1.5million with Stoke for Whelan and the 33-year-old is now on the verge of arriving at Villa Park.
Whelan clearly has immense experience of the Premier League and he will be crucial in helping Villa get there next season.
