Leeds United are keen on signing Aston Villa defender Tommy Elphick, according to reports.
Aston Villa managed to lure Tommy Elphick to Villa Park from Premier League side Bournemouth at the start of last season and the transfer was understandably seen as a huge coup for the Villans.
Elphick was immediately made club captain by former Villa boss Roberto Di Matteo and many believed that the central defender would have a big role to play if the Villans were to earn promotion into the Premier League.
However, Villa came nowhere near to earning a place back in the English top flight while Elphick also failed to live up to the hype which surrounded his arrival to the club.
During the second half of last season, manager Steve Bruce used Elphick only sparingly and with John Terry arriving to Villa Park this summer, the 29-year-old’s participation on the pitch looks set to be further reduced during the upcoming campaign.
As a result, it is widely expected that Elphick will be sold by Villa this summer and reports have claimed that the ambitious Leeds United are currently plotting a swoop for the ex-Brighton star.
