The Sun have reported that Steve Bruce could go back to Oakwell once again to sign Barnsley’s out of contract midfielder Josh Scowen.
Having previously signed Conor Hourihane and James Bree from the Yorkshire side, Bruce is ready to go back to pick up the former Wycombe Wanderers man.
Scowen started 38 league games last season for The Tykes scoring two and setting up four for his teammates. He is more of a defensive midfielder and likes to get stuck in.
The Englishman loves to fly into tackles and steal the ball from opponents. He also has a low centre of gravity which allows him to change direction quickly and has a decent range of passing.
Other Championship clubs like Brentford, Fulham and Wolves are thought to be interested in getting the signature of the 24 year-old.
It’s understood that the midfielder turned down the new offer his current club offered him. It’s thought that he is only demanding a weekly wage of £9,000 which Villa would be prepared to offer.
Bruce is thought to be looking at free transfers and loans to stay within FFP rules and regulations and the chairman wants to sell before he buys due to the amount of fringe players who aren’t needed.
