The Birmingham Mail have reported that Birmingham City are looking to sign Aston Villa defender Tommy Elphick. He is reportedly Harry Redknapps first target as he looks to mold the Blues team to his own liking.
Elphick signed for Villa last summer for a £3.3m fee from Bournemouth. He looked to have been quite a shrewd signing after captaining the Cherries to a Championship league title the previous season.
Not only having experience at the Championship level with Villa and Bournemouth, the 29 year-old previously played for Brighton and Hove Albion.
Elphick has struggled to make his stamp on the first team this season as James Chester and Nathan Baker have impressed as a partnership under Steve Bruce. The former Cherries centre half was forced to make do with a bit-part role during the second half of the season so it wouldn’t be a surprise if he moved on this summer.
Blues current centre half situation is under uncertainty as they are yet to make a decision about Paul Robinson’s future. This leaves them with Ryan Shotton and Michael Morrison.
Would you sell him to those down the road or would you prefer to sell to a different suitor?
