Premier League outfit Middlesbrough have expressed an interest in securing the services of Aston Villa attacker Rudy Gestede.
Following his fine exploits with Blackburn Rovers, Aston Villa decided to splash £6.5 million to secure the services of Rudy Gestede last season but the transfer has not quite worked out for either the player or indeed for Villa.
Gestede found the back of the net on only five occasions during Villa’s unsuccessful bid to avoid the drop into the Championship last season and the Benin international has struggled to establish himself as a regular this term in the second tier of English football as well despite a strong start.
It is clear to see that Gestede is currently surplus to requirements under manager Steve Bruce and now in shock reports, revelations can be made that Premier League side Middlesbrough are keen on signing the 28-year-old before the end of the January transfer window.
Boro have done well in the Premier League so far but have found the back of the net on only 16 occasions in 18 matches and as a result, manager Aitor Karanka is hopeful of bolstering his attacking options with the signing of Gestede within the next 48 hours.
