The rumours regarding Aston Villa’s supposed ‘re-branding’ have dominated the headlines this week with many outlandish monetary figures as high as £2 million being reported to be the final costs for the project.
In a breaking development, the club’s official website have just released this statement clarifying how much the club’s new crest actually cost and the reasoning behind it.
Whilst not amounting to the extraordinary £2 million figure being quoted in the press recently, the club have exclusively revealed that the total project costs to restyle the club crest still comes in at around £80,000.
Is that supposed to make us feel better?
In an era where performances on the football pitch should take priority over everything else, you have to question why the club can still justify parting with that kind of money after their ineptitude and poor decisions at boardroom level have ultimately cost them their own Premier League status.
