Aston Villa have made a surprise decision to appoint Frenchman Remi Garde as manager following the departure of Tim Sherwood.
Despite spending a lot of money during the summer, Aston Villa have endured a terrible start to the campaign under Tim Sherwood and with the Englishman having guided the Villans to only a single victory in 10 Premier League matches, his services was dispensed with last month.
Now in a surprise appointment, it can be confirmed that Villa have moved on to replace Sherwood with French manager Remi Garde, who has joined the Midlands based outfit on a three-year deal.
Many Villa fans may not be too aware of Garde but he has earned a reputation as a promising manager during his time with Lyon and he does have prior experience in the Premier League as a player, after he turned out for Arsenal between 1996 and 1999.
However, Villa are currently in a real fight to avoid relegation into the Premier League and the appointment of Garde can certainly be viewed as a bit of a risk by the club hierarchy.
